And if there are carpets and curtains in the room when were they last deep cleaned?

Sound like hay fever symptoms, PC has been very high now for weeks, and air quality generally poor (In London where OP resides)

After much scientific 'research' over the last few months I think I can solidly conclude, with a tear in my eye, that I have developed some sort of alcohol allergy. Cue wailing and gnashing of teeth.

My general tolerance is still strong, but invariably after a post-ride pint or a drink with dinner I wake up at 2 AM with swollen sinuses, sneezing and honking away till sunrise. It's playing havoc with my sleep schedule and the cat doesn't know what to think.

Anyone else experienced this? Did it come on suddenly, as mine seems to have done? Any miraculous recoveries?

It's not an allergy to alcohol, or anything else.. It's the effects of alcohol. Abstain from your post-ride pint or a drink with dinner and it won't happen.
If you haven't tried this already, you're in denial.

Also, "over the last few months" doesn't constitute coming on suddenly "...as mine seems to have done...".

You could read this if you prefer to ignore the elephant in your room.

Gotta go.................herd of elephants to clean up after....................

Well, you certainly know how to express yourself in a polite and considered manner.

Seriously, why the attitude? It's a legit question. And 'in denial' about what, exactly?

It might not be an allergy. Alcohol gives you a buzz when you first drink it (excitatory), then acts as a depressant, then at a few hours after you go to bed, it acts in a excitatory manner again and wakes you up. So it may be on nights when you don't drink your allergy plays up but you manage to sleep through it.
Good shout. Good suggestions all, in fact (well, mostly). We'll see what happens as the pollen count goes down.
