I'm with DP on this, top quality beers only and in moderation. Definitions of moderation may vary.
i have not touched a drop for about 6 yrs now ..... do itCan I do it? I've been cutting down bit by bit this year, I reckon it's doable. If I put it up here it'll give me peer pressure and an extra incentive.
Anyone else thinking of doing this?
I stopped off for a pint during a 200k audax earlier this year. All that cycling gives one a thirst...I was hoping we'd do a local 200k in 2013 and then go for a pint afterwards *sad*
I figure there are lots of great peeps out there doing their very best to make some stupendously tasty ales. I fully intend to sample their efforts. How about upping the quality and drinking just a wee bit less? A shame to knock it totally on the head.

I was teetotal and celibate for a few years - 0-6yrs old if I remember correctly.I have, in the past, been teetotal for several years with not even alcohol in cooking passing my lips.
Likewise I also did several years of celibacy.
Neither was a problem, though I couldn't give up cake, or chocolate, or haribo.![]()
I don't drink alcohol at all, tbh, unless you really enjoy drinking, it is not exactly living a life of depravity to not drink alcohol. That being said, if you really enjoy it, why deprive yourself?
This is one of the reasons for my effort to go dry, a few good friends are either alcoholics in denial or recovering alcoholics....it has cost both sorts everything. Plus in my mental health training I've seen the dark side of booze too much, which got me thinking....could I do what I preach?I dont drink much anyway so it makes no odds to me.
Also i know an alchoholic and when you see a person having to drink just to function it puts you off.
