Learn to meditate? It would occupy some of the time and is a valuable skill in itself - especially for dealing with situations which you are temporarily unable to alter.

Or learn to mediate, and then get a job with ACAS...

Not much helpful advice for you I'm afraid, but I hope you get better very soon.:hugs:

Go on, tilt your head!
can't it requires iOS 5 minimum now for a new install - that's an iPhone 5. I only have an iPhone 3G

Ah OK. Well you can install IOS 5 on an iPhone 4 but that still doesn't help you. Time for an upgrade perhaps? The Samsungs look nice as an Apple alternative.

finance issues given no job... never purchased this one, it was given to me and it still works as a phone and has decent battery life... failed to convince my brother he needs to upgrade his iPhone 4 to and iPhone 5 and find a present for that older sister of his...

Ha! Unfortunately you would need to be able to get out of bed and out of the house for that - even with ACAS.

I was thinking she could learn to mediate now, and get the job later. ;)

I assume ACAS still exists? You don't hear about them so much these days, they were mentioned on virtually every news broadcast when I were a lass (well, it was the 70's).

Ah, I see. Mediation, like everything else these days, has been canalised and 'professionalised'. I haven't checked, but I suspect that getting the relevant qualification is a task of months if not years.

Well, those were the heady days of In Place Of Strife - the modern British workplace is by and large a much more sensible environment, for which ACAS should take some of the credit. Yes, they are still here and still relevant. Excellent website, btw. http://www.acas.org.uk

Install Tapped Out and Clash of Clans on iPhone / iPad.... see you in a years time lol
Now I find out a fellow CCer has tapped out, after I've given all my eggs away to strangers.

I drive a lot for work, would definitely recommend podcasts. If you're into comedy check out earwolf.com it's not everyone's cup of tea but it's had me crying with laughter on several occasions. There's lots out there, you can learn a surprising amount from them

DVDs: Father Ted, Shaun the Sheep both work for me when I'm ill and can't concentrate.

I don't think this will help though

finance is an issue (I haven't worked for over 2 years now due to the tour & my subsequent leg injury, now this & a couple of other issues means it will probably be late summer/autumn before I can even consider looking for a job and I'm not entitled to any benefits) and I have already watched most of the (few) dvd's we have repeatedly - most things were sold prior to the tour and we don't have the finances to replace them. I have been going through the BT vision box for shows but nothing really appeals - I'm not the sitcom type person.
audiobooks - an idea - shall investigate that one - Bill Bryson's a short history of nearly everything works wonders for sleep despite being fascinating
podcasts I have tried but most of what I am interested in needs concentration (scientific background originally).
fraid I can't stand the radio, just grates on my nerves and I have a rather limited music tolerance (currently listening to "Songs from a World Apart" by Armand Amar & Levon Minassian)
Didn't realise you were so unwell, sorry to hear it (
Do you want some box sets to borrow? I've got Mad Men, Sex in the City and Miranda. I've got a few random DVD's from when I was unwell. Happy to post some on.
