Evans have a store in Edinburgh if you prefer to collect in store

The eBay one was an XXL which would be for a tall chap, how tall are you? Also you would have had to collect from Wigan which is a fair hike from Perthshire

Different bike in your link Vickster. The 2013 Secteur Elite is £900 from Evans http://www.evanscycles.com/products/specialized/secteur-elite-compact-2013-road-bike-ec040968

and there was a good £250 of upgrades on the eBay one. I'm a tad under 6'2" so the size would have been okay (58cm frame) and a Saturday jaunt down to Wigan would have been fun (I may be kidding myself here!!)

However.....there is a fair chance I will buy a Specz from Evans and I never knew they did Quidco (I've made over a grand from Quidco in the last 3 years) so thanks for the heads up!

Good post Steve.

Thinks have changed dramatically in bikes in 30 years and the choice is bewildering. Take your time and try loads of bikes. I am 55 and was in the same position as you. Speaking for myself ....and you.... We are never going to be racing boys so you can probably strike a line through that model. You don't want to go off road and so front suspension is not really needed and it is heavy and something else to fix if it goes wrong so maybe you can strike that as well.

There is still loads to choose from. Keep asking loads of questions on here. There are no daft questions, only the ones you don't ask.
