Bought a Kingpin

So, getting on for 3 years later and I still have it. It is still in essentially the same condition as when I bought it although I have made a few changes:

• Replaced the saddle with a Brooks one
• Replaced the 440 chromed steel rims with 451 alloy ones (laced to the existing hubs - my first wheel build)
• Replaced the Weinmann front brake with a Dia-Compe dual pivot
• Replaced the brake levers with MTB cantilever ones (it now actually stops, including in the wet)
• Added a genuine Dawes front rack (these are not easy to find!)
• Added a bottle cage.

And today I did 32 miles on it with a group of like-minded enthusiasts - not a single mechanical issue all day across the fleet.

Yes - the only bike that needed any attention during the ride! To be fair that was only tyre pressure and SA hub adjustment.

I have a friend in Lincoln who has a collection of 20’s, I wonder if he was out with your group.
These bikes seem to have a strong following

He is called Steve, we met through those smelly rally cars but also have an odd interest in old bikes 😁
