With respect - to me it didn’t seem scripted. We have to be careful when throwing that accusation around. It was though very predictable.
Well, I boxed - very poorly - and my lass boxes very well, and there are lots of tell tell signs that it wasn't right.
Tyson has been a peek-a-boo fighter his entire career, possibly as a consequence of not being particularly tall or long in reach, but suddenly wasn't a peek-a-boo fighter any more
Twice Tyson had good, clear, open rights locked and loaded on Paul and he didn't release them. There's at least one where Paul did the same.
And there are other similar tactical anomalies. Scripted? Perhaps, perhaps not, but it certainly wasn't a free and open fight with each man doing all that is permitted under the rules of the sport. Something is clearly amiss.
My lass spotted all this first go, and I watched it again and she's right. It's fishier than my home made apple crumble.
And then there's the 'scripts that was leaked a few hours before the fight. Real, fake? We don't know, but combined with the actions of the fighters themselves it's certainly enough that those thar have actually worn gloves themselves are asking questions.
And I'll voice whatever opinion I like, within the bounds of the forum rules. It's an opinion - it may well be wrong, but it's at least an opinion formed on evidence, and is thus a legitimate conversation.
If you've boxed more successfully than me - which wouldn't be difficult - and have greater practical knowledge of the sport than my daughter then perhaps you could help us explain the anomalies instead of simply trying to shut the conversation down?
If there's a legitimate reason for Tyson's sudden abandonment of a lifelong technique, then what is it? If there's a reason why the fighters, Tyson in particular, didn't take clear and open shots that were presented to them, then what is it? Help advance the conversation.
