Just coming to the end of this book and I've thoroughly enjoyed it.

With a nice and simple writing style it has been fascinating to peek inside the mind of a top athlete as he prepares for his assault on the TdF.

I'm no big fan of cycling but this has whetted my appetite for more.

I'd like to read similar by other top cyclists - does anyone have any recommendations please (need to be on Kindle although I can check that myself)?

Ta in advance.

there are loads out there , many doing the rounds on here by book raffle, not on kindle though

These.

There's plenty of choice, I'm finishing off Michael Barry's book, readable but nothing outstanding.

The trouble is when you've read so many as I have they can all get a bit the same.

Tyler Hamilton's isn't too bad if you can get past the, 'poor me, I'm the victim in all this.'

Although you said you wanted top cyclists it's worth broadening your search and reading The Escape Artist by Matt Seaton, one of the very few books I've read twice.

Another vote for David Millar's first book. Not strictly a cycling book but Free Country by George Mahood is good fun. Im about to start another of his called Operation Ironman.

As mentioned before the David Millar and Geraint Thomas books are good in different ways;anything by William Fotheringham, the Pantani book.

Will get the new David Millar one and keep looking out for the Weigelius one in charity shops but no dice so far.

Oh also the Ned Boulting* ones are good too and the third one of his is another I need to get.

*The second one is worth it just for his description of going for a ride with Chris Boardman alone.

And this is awesome;

Not a biography or anything but if you like fettling bikes it's brilliant.

Thanks very much for your replies. :okay:

There's a good selection on Kindle and I will do some sample reading later tonight and purchase one or two.

I found the team working and sacrifice involved in the Bradley Wiggins book fascinating.

Not strictly a book but USADAs Reasoned Decision regarding Lance Armstrong is a brilliant read, it used to be available as a PDF which you can read on the Kindle.

Thanks for that but I am trying to steer clear of the whole doping thing tbh.

I just want to get a bit more insight into what life is like for a pro' cyclist whose performance levels are astonishing - In BW's book there is mention of him doing 'torque work' for fairly long periods of time up very steep inclines in 53x16. Just amazes me.

Same with the sacrifices made by extremely talented Domestiques who give their all for the main man to succeed.

I'd quite like to read more along those lines than the mucky side of the sport.
