Today BW tweeted that he was to attend a local CG (bickerstaffe) so I thought I may be able to get across to that even though its 12mls away..so I shot out of work and then SHOT out of the house after an express change..
1stly: I put shorts on !
big mistake = 13 odd degrees it was...
On way up there I was riding along thinking, is this worth it? (weather) - closer to the meet' point, I thought 'i'll hang around for a bit but not riding' (weather)..wheeled around waiting as it was a normal CG night and I know it gets a turn-out...quite a few where waiting around - though I found it far to chilly to do that & carried on riding around in relative circles to keep the blood moving...
..eventually BW turned up looking VERY un-noticeable with only Garmin shorts on, even they had to looked at hard to see them...and some leggings of some sort - he was muttering to some bloke it was SOO cold or something...and I felt it would've been better him chickening out of it (as if
) the waiting peleton
20 odd lads
- seemed to pep up abit..BW went for a quick p@ss - shot back then didnt want to hang around and everyone click-in and 'off...he was on the front 1st off..and a gap was opening and I was thinking 'we may not see the rest of this ride - if that gaps not closed..' bit some lights put and end to that..
After the lights he went on the back, in front of me, I got a good spy of him at this point; FELT bike: looked very steep in angles..dark overshoes..and a block that was definately an 11t upwards to somethings like a 21..total racing stuff obviously ! Some fancy wheels..didnt catch them..not sure on the gearing...possibly Campag. as I recall him changing the gears in a campy style not shimano..style..as he changed down 4 cogs i think... (i notice alot
)
Though, just by seeing the lad you could see a totally fine tuned riding style / set-up on the bike ~ exactly fitted on/to the bike...
Though if yuh gonna ride SOO much as he does - you would want to be fitted properly to a bike
Not long after, the speed started to edge 30mph...and I wasnt going to last...as I wasnt really plussed with my clothing situ. and the fact I wasnt going to do it in the 1st place..as in the thoughts on the way there..
Tall & very thin is how I'd describe his look - it amazed me how someone soo thin can put out such power..!!!!!!
So, I can only say: all the best to the lad - he must be wondering what the hells he let himself in for re: this weather...ie the Tour of Britain..i can only hope for dry for them ! It wasn't nice /this eve - tonight.
