After 12,000 miles and due to the fact that the brake lever was making contact with the handlebars, I thought it was time to fit some new brake blocks

LHS no issues, couple of minutes and done; RHS the tiny aluminium bolt that holds the block in was seized solid and the 2.5 mm Allen key head on it has rounded off

Short of getting a new block holder is there an easyish way to get the little bugger out?

I wouldn't bother trying to rescue it. Get new pads and holders. Not expensive

Any chance of a photo please? So you're replacing just the rubber blocks into an existing holder? This is a road bike with dual pivot calipers? Or am I way off the mark here?

Yes, pretty much similar to this:

Both the little bolt and brake shoe are aluminium and it's corroded in.
