I cycled in in the Aldi long sleeve top this week - I was impressed - wicks properly, and the zip pocket was a nice extra. Too baggy in the body, and a bit short in the arms, but for £7 I can't complain.

As for the bibs... well, if they work for someone out there size wise, I'm glad. On me the top bit is way too baggy, and the legs are 3/4 length. Serviceable, but I'm glad I only bought one pair.

After coming back to road cycling from a 10 year gap I discovered I had one pair of dying shorts and a summer top plus some dubious wool bottoms and one winter top which reminded me that I had once been slimmer

I'd never heard of Aldi stuff but I currently look like a walking advert for it. I decided to kit myself out and replace bits as and when. For the price it's OK, some good, some bad. Funnily enough the bottoms I like, though I know lots don't. Other bits fit to varying degrees, so I read this thread with interest as I will slowly replace the less well fitting bits with better kit once the bike buying funds have been replenished.

If you're after stuff at the reasonably priced end of the market, Decathlon kit isn't bad at all, if you have one near you - the basic cycling shorts are well priced, they do a decent thermal jersey for about £25 (I'd have bought one if I'd not got the DHB long sleeve in the Wiggle sale). I didn't get on with their Rockrider stuff, but my brother in law likes the baggy shorts a lot.

TK Maxx did decent cycling stuff not so long ago too (I got four Gonso jerseys that I really like (although recent purchases make two surplus to requirements), and a great Montane featherlight windproof jacket that keeps the chill out nicely).

The Gill and dhb shortsleeves in the Wiggle sale are very good (and a steal at £7.70), assuming you like a road jersey style rather than a "freeride" style jersey.

I'll have a mooch at them, though it's winter stuff I need now - Well, in fact I don't need anything as I look like I just crashed through all the Aldi clothes rails at once and came out wearing everything in a sort of Woody Allen fashion but the winter tops I bought are a bit loose and I don't have a bike waterproof at all.

Pearl Izumi bib-shorts and jerseys fit me as if they were made for me.

Nike arm and leg warmers are sooooo good.

Specialised helmets, gloves and shoes are the best for the extremities. Whilst the fit isn't as good, Gore rain/uber-winter gloves do the trick for my hands brilliantly.

Dainese body armour vest / spine protector.

Michelin tyres.

prendas stuff always works for me

ground effect is pretty good.

Buff.

I like the Cannondale stuff, I have a Morphus jacket that is hardly ever off my back, on or off the bike. Also the Surpass shorts are good but not long enough for my liking
Assos kit is good - I have an old roubaix type jersey that I've had for years and use permanently in the winter. Also picked up an Evo Intermediate jersey of a good friend for £25!!! Excellent for summer evening rides.
I love the Castelli clothing and have always found their shorts very good. Their jerseys are fairly expensive (but not Assos-ly so), unfortunately very few shops seem to stock them in this country, so if anyone can point me in the right direction. Meanwhile have a look at http://www.castelli-cycling.com/eng/index.htm

I find Groundeffect clothes to be very good and they are moderately priced. Good service too, especially when you consider that they are on the other side of the world. I would prefer to shop locally but my LBS staff are a miserable bunch so it is not a pleasure to shop there.
