Has anyone had problems with Alinsons flour in the breadmaker? I had a few failures and realised it was a change of flour. I normally use Aldi strong wholemeal, but they they have not had any for a few weeks. The Alinsons does not rise. I now mix it with Adli flour (from another store) 3 to 1 to use it up, which works.

I can't help other to say you should contact them as it appears to be poor quality in that batch.

I have been using FWP Matthews Cotswold flour for a few months with consistent good results.

I use Aldi too. Their organic rustic flour is lovely.
Been using Allinsons extra strong, as per the advice of a CCer, but not always rising as I would like. He has a Panasonic but I have a Cookworks

I always used to use just Allisons stong white, but recently I've started using a 50% mix with Allisons very stong wholemeal flour and I've noticed it doesn't rise so much. Anything more than 50% wholemeal flour in the mix and the recipe book with my Panasonic breadmaker indicates that I need to add vitamin C powder (I think it's to counteract the effect of the wholemeal flour on the yeast).

I suspect the problem isn't the flour, but the programming of the breadmaker. I use all kinds of flour without any problems, but I make bread by hand and let it rise for as long as needed before baking.
