One thing I particularly like with this breadmaker is that it has a dried fruit dispenser which automatically releases the dried fruit into the bread mix at exactly the right time.

Breadmakers pah! I started baking by hand when my Panasonic broke and I've carried on that way. It only takes a few minutes of your actual time, the rest of the time the bread knows what to do and gets on with it on its own.
I prefer making bread by hand. Although a dough I mixed up on Friday had to be in the mixer with a dough hook as I have a dodgy arm at the moment.

Nar.... too much like hard work for me.

With the breadmaker you just tip in the ingredients and press the buttons. Mine also has a timer so you can program it to wake up in the morning to bread smells wafting around the house and a lovely slice of warm fresh bread with honey for breakfast.

We had one very briefly. Used it for about 2 weeks and then decided I prefer making bread by hand!

I'm only a beginner and mine turned out very well. I look forward to seeing yours.

My daughter detoured her bike ride to drop by when she found out I had baked it and it's more than half gone now!

Luckily I had an idea this would happen so I prepared a no-knead dough before I went to bed last night and it's in the oven right now. Just a plain white sourdough for my week's sandwiches.
no bad looking loaf, decent looking crumb structure!...nice

Another Panasonic user here: 2501 I think it is. Makes gorgeous bread. Bought ours when child 2 was diagnosed with gluten intolerance, to give her some variation from the tasteless crap she was otherwise subject to.

I hope you don't mind but I'm taking the lazy option and attaching photos of the ingredients and the method.

Edited to add: I forgot to say, the recipe comes from the book Slow Dough Real Bread by Chris Young.

My attempt, just waiting for it to cool abit before the first slice with plenty of butter

Tastes fantastic, definitely worth making again, I hope it lasts until Tuesday!

If you want a recipe that's much less faff, here's one I use regularly http://www.theclevercarrot.com/2014/01/sourdough-bread-a-beginners-guide/ .

The beauty of it is that it's a no-knead dough, just mix, rise, shape, prove, bake.
Things I do slightly differently are: I don't bother heating the pot, and I don't sprinkle semolina in the pot, I prefer to sprinkle it onto the base of the dough while it's in the proving basket - much less mess.

I made naan bread dough in the breadmaker last night, then baked it with the oven set to thermonuclear strength. Tasted mighty fine.

This very interesting, and a lot I didn't know. I need to invest in a Dutch oven before next weekend! Thanks very much.
