For me it's a bowl of Alpen with chopped banana & dried cranberries, and a smoothie to drink.

I hear oats and bananas are good before a ride, so...

7 miles is my commute (well, 1 mile extra for you), and I do it on a bowl of cereal and a slice of bread and jam. Sugary tea is my pick-up when I arrive at work.

Home is an apple 1 hour before I leave.

I ride to work (about 6 miles), shower and have breakfast there.

I prefer to ride the 25 minute-journey on an empty stomach and fill up later. I go for Cheerios and All-Bran with yoghurt and strong coffee: keeps me going until lunch.

I know that not everyone has the opportunity to wash, change AND eat at work, but it's a lot more relaxed.

Porridge made with skimmed milk and water, bit dull but low cal and not too rich! Far more filling than other cereals. And a mug of tea

Beans on toast, those new Heinz fridge packs work very well, I just dollop out the amount I want and nuke them.

For a longer ride, I still find porridge to be the best fuel, although I don't particularly enjoy it as food! On my usual commute (very short at 4 miles) I just have a slice of toast and a mug of tea - my normal energy stores will see me to about 25 miles, so unless I'm exceeding that, I can usually get away without anything to eat prior to exercise - the token breakfast is for my colleagues' benefit in case my stomach starts making audible protests about lack of breakfast.
