It doesn't quite click with me tbh. I find it's black humour to be a little off the mark. I've watched the first 5 episodes and I can't say I'm hooked. I'll give it a bit longer though, it may grow on me.

True Detective, however, I think is brilliant. That did have me from minute 5 and in Rustin Cohl they must have one of the most quotable TV characters ever written! Good soundtrack too. It dips a little around episode 4 or 5 but I think the producers may have hit on an original (or at least new) formula; it's all change for season 2 - different characters, story, setting, perhaps even era. It potentially keeps it fresh and avoids that series overrun mentioned upstream.

Great series, addicted now, I might even try some of that crystal meth, looks quite moorish.

It's won a bafta now, wonder if that means it'll have Maggie bloody Smith and Dame Judy friggin Dench in it. Does the UK do remakes of American series?

Yes it's really, really good. Still just at No 6 on my fave TV series.

1) The Shield
2) The Wire
3) The Sopranos
4) Spartacus
5) Game Of Thrones
6) Breaking Bad

True Detective as mentioned above was really good too, if a bit grim. Dexter for me seriously went downhill after about 3 or 4 seasons, not sad to see the end of that. I'm currently watching Person Of Interest which is really good mindless fun, a little bit like 24 before it turned shite.

Just getting into it, prefere to watch it in the winter but as I'm off bike for 6 weeks I'm not missing much.
Isn't immenant death a liberating experience,

actually my wifes frend had incurable lung cancer (good old gp thought of everything but that till it was to late) and she decided if I'm goig to die, lets get on with it and refused treatment.

totally succumbed and bought the entire set (ebay £32) - loving every episode even the one were they just chase a fly.

The thing that sets BB apart from other shows is that every single episode moves the story along or develops the characters - there is no sense of treading water, even on a low-budget episode like the fly one. The only one I thought was doing this was the one where Jesse meets a couple of people who have stolen a cash machine. I couldn't understand where it was going, but by the end of that episode I realised how important it was in terms of Jesse's character. Absolutely outstanding, and IMHO it is the best thing that's ever been on telly.

Would put it at second best after The Sopranos , have you seen The Sopranos ?

I borrowed all my mate's boxsets a few years ago. It was my number one until I saw Breaking Bad...

I would put Breaking Bad ahead of Sopranos, but two awesome shows. At least Breaking Bad had a decent ending.

I liked the ending of the Sopranos, but people have very different opinions on what they think happened.

It could be worse, it could have been cancelled and not end properly at all. I'm about five episodes off the end of seaon three of Deadwood at the moment, and I know it didn't have a fourth season. I'm expecting to watch the last episode and be left with loads of unanswered questions...
