The bridge crossing the River Wensum, on Sustrans National Network Route 1: Marriots Way Norwich, on the section between Sweet Briar road, and Hellesdon road is closed for refurbishment and resurfacing for the next 13 weeks.
Temporary sign posts (black writing on a yellow back ground) for cyclists are in place, but are confusing at the point where you have to cross Sweet Briar Road (A140) in Norwich: Heading South into the city, continue into the industrial estate and straight on, another sign will be picked up after approx. 1/4 mile. Heading North out of the city, Marriots way is blocked by temorary steel railings, with directions turning you right and taking you up through the industrial estate.
The route South is via Hellesdon Road, turning right into Hellesdon Hall Road, and vice versa for travelling North
The diversion around the closed area adds about 3/4 of mile to your journey, and crosses a busy main road (A140) at a pedestrian crossing.
