2 twats on bikes. Does nobody any favours. Then the bigger twat is stupid enough to put it on TV. How did he ever think that any cyclist would come out of that looking good?

Vine often posts up clips and he seems to do it for pubicity and often comes out looking a fool. In this case he may have made an error of positioning when the other guy comes up behind but it's a nothing event really. That other guy a total bellend though and obviously has a few issues. I'd rarely defend Vine but in this case he did actually seem concerned for the other guys safety when he veered across road into path of other vehicles.
A ridiculous overreaction and I'd hope that other cyclist watches this and gets the p*ss ripped out of him by anyone he knows.

I find Jeremy Vine to be a self-entitled, self-publicist, opinionated fool who earns a living trying to emulate some of our more right wing tabloids. I rarely listen to or watch anything he broadcasts unless my wife is in the car and tunes in R2. That's my standpoint out of the way.

The video seems clear. Vine pulled across in front of the other cyclist without looking. That's behaviour he would call out if it came from a car driver. The other rider's response can't be condoned. Something short and appropriate, possibly including a WTF moment, but a prolonged row isn't justifiable.

Both are in the wrong for very different reasons. If Vine was riding correctly it wouldn't have happened. If I overtake someone I expect to continue to pull away, not simply dump myself in their space.

the really annoying thing is you cant seem to watch this video anywhere without tons of flipping adverts or pop ups or more ads, just show me the damn footage !!!

all Vine had to do was say sorry mate, didnt look properly, thats on me, own it, and move on and actually give the guy some space in the cycle lane because I think thats where he wants to be, possibly his route goes left at some point and Vines goes straight on and thats why theyre crossing the streams (never cross the streams guys) but he doesnt want to get sat behind Vine again on his inside (which is the only room Vine is leaving), as he already thinks Vines movement is unpredictable and doesnt know if Vine will just left hook him, guy would still have been annoyed, but thats life.

it only turns into an argument like that, firstly because the traffic blocks them up together, but also because Vine is choosing to extend the debate about it imo, no doubt as alot of his cycling videos end up as, for sharing content reasons, unless he really is that much of a tedious bore in real life.

and yeah if that had happened to him, youd absolutely bet he'd have been all over it as a major cycling safety fail.

also I do think for someone who commutes on UK roads alot, he gets triggered by the smallest things, and repeatedly so, which most of us commuters have long since just accepted is part of the deal of riding on UK roads in rush hours and dont even react to, Id be posting near constantly in the commuting thread if I took his level of offence at the driving standards I see on the roads, I tend to only cover the bits where it gets really dangerous for me and people are doing insane things, not pulling out 100-150 metres away from a side road on him.

Vine does indeed make a meal out of this and in all of his videos. He wants clicks and a boring, non incident video doesn't get them.

However, the other guy totally lost it and was unreasonably aggressive/sweary/confrontational. They were both wrong and Vine should have just said, "oops sorry mate didn't see you" and left it at that but the other guy went off the deep end.

I have no idea about him in real life

but every programme I have ever seen him on - including his radio show (is that still on??) has suggested that he is

Basically I could be wrong because if I hear his voice I just immediately change channel - so he might have changed and I would not have noticed

His brother does seem "quite different"

I can't see what got the other cyclist so ranty, but from what i can gather... Vine was supposed to give way to traffic behind him?

As the overtaking person I would need to assume ther person in front is an idiot and assume they are likely to pull out Infront of me.
