I very badly bruised my big toe in a children's soft play area, really painful walking but cycling was fine, probably due to the stiff soles on my cycling shoes.

Ouch done that kicking a big box of paper that was holding a door open, never considered it wasn't empty and snapped my big toe in half ........ happy hobbling.

Mine was on a box of books (we were moving house) and the second time on my bedside cabinet...I launched myself out of bed after hearing one of the kids screaming the house down...got downstairs to find that my husband had given the child the 'wrong' spoon, hence the screaming!

Cracked my big toe going over the bars of my bike when I was 14 (a good few years ago now + some more) still gives me gip in the cold/wet

One of the only times, as a grown man, i've wanted to cry, was when i done this stupid thing on Saturday. The pain was unreal.
My kids found it so funny, that their dad was rolling around on the floor in complete agony!

Agreed!! I did the silent screaming thing, whilst hopping on one foot - not easy for me as I have dyspraxia and my balance is rubbish
When I found my voice, the language could have easily been at home in a barrack room!!

Broke my big toe on right foot about 5 years ago, into the joint. Now it's bent and aches when the weather is cold. Every medic I spoke to at the time said arthritis was inevitable...seems they were right  I broke mine when I missed the bottom stair at home and landed on the top of it!

Keep it strapped up and hobble carefully.

Yip, I was told the same and it seems to be true
