Has anyone had experience of a Kindle suddenly showing only half the screen ? The bottom half acts normally but the top half stays in standby mode. Searching the net shows it happens quite a bit but no obvious solutions are evident.
Is it for the bin ?

Yep, screen is buggered. No fix as far as I know.

I've had three go tits up. First time was within 12 months of purchasing, 2nd was just outside so they sent a replacement and charged me £30 and then just this month I had another one crash & burn but it's been 16 months or something so I just bought a new one. Worth giving them a bell though, their Customer Service is spot on.

Thanks for the replies.

It isn't mine and it's probably 2 or 3 years old so well out of warranty but I'll get her to contact Amazon just in case they will offer a deal anyway.

Thanks again.

My 10 year old daughter has worked out a way to read any book for free on her Kindle, or Swindle as I've renamed it, you need to be a voracious reader to do it. Anyway when I found out, after applauding her sneaky wheeze, I've had to ask her to stop, mainly as it was happening so often that she'd get found out and I'd have to foot the bill.

Another Kindle fan here. Got one over three years ago and it's still fine and have had a Kindle Fire for about a year. Both get plenty of hammer. I've read a much greater variety of books.
I've had to reboot once on each but holding in the start button for 20/30 seconds has worked each time. Does give you a moment when it restarts and it appears to be blank, but then everything miraculously appears.
