I am interested to know how somebody could come up with a system that can get confused about what time of day it is and which is apparently so complicated that nobody knows how to correct it reasonably promptly.

The tech industry regularly come up with such things.... Make a simple system so complicated, that only you understand its function keeps you in a well paid job for life.

I did that but they made me redundant. Not long afterwards the technical director got the sack. I like to think it wasn't a coincidence.

Aircraft always have a divert airfield in case of this. Not all airfields where effected. Taxing aircraft would have been effected for example and they would be on the ground. I don't know if they would let passengers off or not. It depends on what the pilot wants to do.

Can be fun.... I an remember la VC10 landing at the Airfield where I was working due to an emergency..... it then could not take off as the runway was too short. It was stranded for some time while it was stripped to the bare minimum allowing it to take off

Meanwhile, airport franchises will be reporting improved sales....

There we have it ... a Conspiracy Theory that can be discussed fro years to come

Lets start tracking down all air traffic controllers who have had financial dealings with Costa, or the other franchises

The Dreamliner landed at an airport whose runway was 900m shorter than the one needed for a max weight take off.

In our case it was a burning smell that it was thought could be a fire, so geting down was the priority.
