Mano-a-mano, slightly flexed at the knee, slightly bent at the hip it was time to draw.
The ride to this point had been a study in avoided eye-contact before silently and calmly they had walked to their chosen point on the pavement. There was no running; this was to be a clean fight.
Now though, simultaneously the clasps were undone and the bars opened. It was close. With a deft twirl-flick-twirl-flick combo the out-of-towner was almost away. "Damn", thought our hero, "the T-bag isn't even on the block yet... don't let him see the panic in your eye, the bead of sweat forming on your brow" and with that the out-of-towner was gone; a full half second ahead...
Our hero defeated told himself "Pah! I was never in a race anyway", before checking the out-of-towner's route and heading in another direction. Any other direction.
Another day, hombre, another day.
