Brompton noise

My lovely new M6R Brompton has a slight chain/gear/cog rattle in certain gears whereas others are silent(ish).

Is this normal ?

Mine, 3 speed, is the same. Silent running in easiest gear, bit more rattly in 2 and more so in 3. You can minimise it by tweaking the cable tension to get it just so.

My six speed ticks when I freewheel with the gear hub in top gear.

It's a running in issue. Give it a few miles, then the noise will decrease, then tweak the cable adjusters till the noise disappears completely.
