Brompton Seatpost Q.

I have a 2009 Brompton S6L which has been in regular use over all these years without much trouble at all. Suddenly, the seat post has gone rusty. Not enough to impair function but it doesn't look so good and it no longer operates so smoothly in the folding/unfolding process.

After 17 years I am not complaining but just wondering - would the black version be less prone to this? I have looked covetously at the third party titanium ones but that is probably just an extravagance unless someone convinces me otherwise! I am exactly the right height for the standard seat post to be the perfect height for me at full extension and I'd like to keep that "feature"!

The rust should clean off with 'Solvol Autosol' this will also leave a protective coating on the Chrome. There are other products which claim to do this but 'Autosol' is far and away the best, been around since the late 1920's
