Brooks saddle care surprise.

Morning folks.
Had a surprise this morning in that the care kit i ordered from Brooks in England was delivered in approx 30hrs from Italy. Fast service yep, reasonable price, but Italy. I thought I'd order direct from them as fed of copycat stuff being touted about. I thought yep deal localish as only 30 miles away and nope its made and stocked in Italy by there parent company. Very surprised, you'd think they would keep uk stock and save a bit of money in DHL costs.

Cheaper to run one warehouse and pay the shipping. If they warehoused it in England they’d likely be shipping just as many packages to Italy and now they’d be paying to run two warehouses.

Freight is cheap.

Working in the automotive industry I used to marvel at how many pieces of a car shifted back and forth as subassemblies between manufacturers in Europe, North America and China before they would finally land in a car. We did bearings for Chrysler that started in the US, came to Canada for processing moved on to China for addition to a subassembly and then came back to Canada for finishing before moving on to final assembly facilities in Canada and Austria. Hundreds of thousands of these units a week, weighing several pounds each by the time they were done.
