For most of the time on the internet i have always used Google Chrome as my default browser because i found Microsoft Edge and Firefox slow. Then about six months ago Chrome started to get slower and slower and web pages were taking an enternity to open.
I thought lets give Edge another go and it turned out that Edge was suddenly very quick and i made it my default browser and it's been like that until a week ago and then that to istarted to play up and become very laggy.
Firefox has always been slow on my PC but yesterday and today it has been really quick and this is what i'm using now.Well until that starts slowing down.
It's more an observation rather than a question but do any of you find the same thing happens with you?

I had the problem. I took a look at the cache and Chrome had hundreds of megabytes stored away!!! I cleared that lot out and Chrome was really sprightly again.

Still a resource hog though. My laptop battery charge would last less than 3 hours using Chrome. It would last 6-8 hours with less demanding apps.

Firefox lets you set it to clear the cache every time you shut it down. I suspect most browsers can do the same. It certainly helps to keep Firefox sprightly on my setup. Firefox>Settings>Privacy & Security, scroll down to Cookies and site data, tick the box Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed. Of course one has to click to accept cookies on most sites but that is no price to pay for the consequent speed and privacy.

Chrome occasionally runs slow for me... but more often than not, checking other browser tabs, it's just the website rather than Chrome itself.

I use Firefox and use CCleaner (free download version) regularly to flush away all the junk that accumulates.

Wasn't there a warning from android / Google / others about a security risk with a load of free cleaner type software / apps? Not all but there were a lot listed. Something about them putting malware onto your phone, tablet or pc.

I don't really recall details as I rarely download much other than from reputable sources like Microsoft, Norton or similar. So it didn't interest or affect me.
