I used to live near a guy who was an Ironman Triathlete. Nice bloke, always up for a chat.

One morning I bumped into him, asked how the training was going. He was having a break that day, so had only popped out for a short bike ride to Luton airport to watch the plains and back. If a 90 mile round trip bike ride is a 'day off' training I shudder to think how hard they train before an event.

The ones who don't make it are never seen again... survival of the fittest!

Funnily enough I was there on Saturday too, on the Glyders. The crowds on Snowdon looked immense.

We clapped and cheered a few triathletes up and a few of them shouted back that they still had a lap to do.: Double Ironman, absolutely barking. Thank goodness the weather was kind to them.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s I ran the Snowdonia Marathon four times (not back to back, tho!!), that was brutal enough for me. I've nothing but respect for these athletes..... I bet they get a huge medal at the end
...but no strength to lift it.
Wow Rockaay- that's fantastic! I'm thinking "why" inside mind- always suspected you were daft.

Lets just say I'd never had to queue to get up a mountain until Saturday. Thankfully the ridges surrounding Snowdon which form the horseshoe path were no where near as packed, but Snowdon and the Miners trail (which we stayed off) were insane.
