The BSA “Prima”
This lovely bike has been rebuilt from the ground up and is complete with all period correct fittings, all in all a stunning recreation of this rare BSA model.
Frame number is W S 0 00246 which means it was built for Raleigh (who owned the BSA brand) in the renowned Carlton Cycles Worksop facility in December 1980
Frame : Reynolds 531 butted main tubes and forks. Professionally refinished in the original plain red (RAL3020) with new bespoke decals. Includes a bottle of touch-up paint. Size: 57cm or 22 ½ inches
Headset: Unbranded – likely Raleigh original, fitted with new bearings
Stem: Cinelli 1A
Handlebars: SR “Road Champion”
Bar Tape: Cloth, black, double layer for comfort
Brakes: Weinmann Type 500 side pull with NOS Weinmann quick release “drilled” levers. Hoods Weinmann
Gear levers: Suntour “Power” with ratchet action on downstroke, on a Raleigh branded clamp
Front Derailleur: Suntour “Compe-V on a Raleigh branded clamp
Rear Derailleur: Suntour Vx
Cables: All new stainless steel cables and new outers
Cranks: SR Apex 170mm
Chainrings: SR Apex twin 52/42 - both removable and fitted with the removable outer chainguard
Chain: Shimano IG51 6/7/8 (new)
Bottom Bracket: New, sealed Shimano BB UN54
Pedals: SR SF11 platform with Christophe toeclips and new Christophe straps
Freewheel: Sachs 7 speed 14-20. Gearing range 57 – 81 & 70 - 100
Rims: Weinmann 36h (Belgium make) alloy clinchers
Hubs: Maillard Normandy small flange quick release “Luxe Competition” red label
Tyres: Michelin Dynamic Classic 700x25 - new
Spokes: Mainly double butted rustless with one or two replacements. The wheels are taut, straight and true
Saddle: Brooks B17 “Champion Standard”
Seatpost: SR fluted 27.2mm
Seat Bolt: Raleigh standard with nut
