Seems I have the same system as a few others, in the Denon. Mine looks like a previous version of the one in FabFoodie's link, being the RCD-M37DAB. It is paired with Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 speakers, and the sound is as good as I can get given that I live in a flat with dodgy soundproofing - so a bit of consideration for neighbours is required. Sound quality over quantity was a big factor when I decided on that system, and I am not disappointed.

The Denon seems to be becoming a winner!

I'm assuming that any computer/mp3 player whatever can be plugged into the USB?

Here for rides.
At home I run my music either through the soundbase on the TV or, in mono, through my Acoustic Image head and cabinet.

In all instances I get texts from tlh and her children telling me to "Turn the music down. Now!"

It's a bit more complicated than that...

My memory is that the USB can take anything non Apple - but since there's an AUX input why bother?

I fancied a Denon system for the office but that style is too deep for a shelf so I went for a Yamaha in the end, great bit of kit and not too pricey either. Yeah I got orange too! :becool:

how about any vaguely respectable amp off fleabay, an apple (or 3.5mm jack) to phono cable to plug in your ipod or PC, and a pair of half-decent speakers off fleabay as well.

I'm so disappointed. It looks worse than my bowl of mayonnaise.

I really think the Denon is the way to go. Mine is very old (probably around 15 years) and it is used now as the CD transport only, as the volume control became crackly. It is paired with a NAD 316BEE amp and a pair of vintage Wharfdale Dentons - sounds pretty good to my old ears.
