The whole point of a wet room is the continuous floor from the shower area outwards. Assuming you can overcome the problems of drainage and access to the trap, movement of the substrates and leakage, the visual impact is lost in a small room so why go to the effort and expense? A shower tray with upstands installed with shower boards will give a lifetime of good service and no leaks if you use quality sealants with good mould inhibitors and take care to maintain it, drying it out and keeping the room well ventilated and clean the shower regularly to prevent build up of lime scale.

there's a lot in that. TT's flat won't allow her to put the drainage within a floor void. On the other hand a pukka dz shower, even with a raised floor, is scrumdiciously scrumptious. Even if it is a passport to Hell. And costs a mint of money.

I had an Italian girlfriend once upon a time
Went to stay with her/her family once... (no happy ending, I'm afraid... didn't work out) but they were loaded, and I'd never seen a wet room before. I 'parked my breakfast' (so to speak) then had a shower... watched in horror as water seeped out under the doorway into the hall... was told it always did that, and was a dodgy design/build.

bear in mind before installing monster shower heads and showers with many jets, that you need a certain amount of water pressure to sustain these things. And think, also, about how much water you're going to use. There's a shortage. Putting in showers that push out half a litre a second is a disgraceful waste of water. And may just overwhelm the connection to the svp. Which would serve you right.
