I should have used that argument. She would have said that that only applied to us if we happened to live in Vanuatu, or similar, and I could have said "good idea.....let's go and build a boat there".

I'd have still ended up prioritising building bedroom doors, for some reason I can't yet fathom.

Suppose you start with the bedroom doors and build everything else round them!

Yes. Although they're normally described as "design team decisions", or "requests", they have the same effect as orders......

Nowt wrong with salvaged doors, just they'd make an ideal starting point for your next project.
