Oh and if you go for the 105 make sure it's the newer 5800 one. Can't praise it enough. The last model (5700) is not as good at all.

I went with zero 1 its literally under £30 for bar and stem and is just as good as the higher end stuff, for the bottom bracket you need to buy, the wheels manafacturing spacers for the s works and. A pf30 bottom bracket or pressfit to bsa adaptor the bototm bracket that comes with the groupset needs the pressfit adaptor along with the spacers needed since its an s works

After finally getting the finances sorted the frame sold out :wacko:

So instead I ordered a Scott Solace 30 2015 with a nice discount from my LBS, comes and will be built and slightly modified the first weekend of October.

Changing the cassette from a 11-32 to a 11-28, getting a slightly longer stem and I am debating what to do with the wheels..

The bike comes with RS11's with nice matching decals to the frame, but I have the slightly better RS21's would you swap em and sell the rs11's or jus keep as? Also roll with Michelin Pro4 Service, which are fairly new 23mm, but are blue on the side wall, I love the tyres, really grippy around corners and roll quick, but won't match the frame. The bike comes with Schwalbe Durano 25mm, bit dubious going up to 25mm and not sure on the performance of the tyre, anyone tried them?

I'd sell the RS11 and the RS21 wheels and the Pro4 tyres and buy a pair of Zondas. They are really really good.

I recently switched to 25mm tyres from the 23mm ones. Both GP4000s, and they only difference I can notice after about 300 miles is that the 25mm ones are slightly comfier on rough roads and they definitely roll better over chip seal roads and the like. So imo keep the Duranos and put them on the Zondas. Perfect scenario :smile:

I'm getting the Solace for £1400 and will be doing long distances so was looking for comfort.. alot of bike the supersix is though!!

@DolbyDan - ref tyres, the general consensus of opinion lately (certainly by the cycling press) is that 25's are much better than 23's, more comfort & roll faster, some Pros are switching to 25's too.
I ride Schwalbe Ultremo 23's but have also got some Specialized S-Works Turbos (24's) for when they wear out.

Next up, if you ever swap bars & stem then I can't praise 3T Ergonova bars & Arx stems highly enough, I use the Team version of the bars, stem & seatpost on my bikes (carbon bars & seatpost, aluminium stem), they are 1st class, as said by @MrWill.

Wheels.

Your Shimano jobs should be well built & strong but generally speaking most Shimano wheels are a touch heavy £ for £ by comparison with other brands.

I just bagged a set of Easton EC70 SL 42mm deep carbon clinchers from CRC for £540 & was nearly ill when the next week they dropped to £472 ish.
Sorry CRC are all sold out of these now.

The Campagnolo Zonda's have been discussed at length in at least 2 threads & seem to be highly regarded.

Try these though, Ritchey WCS Zeta 2's, I had the originals (my mate has them now), the 2's are improved further with better hubs & weigh 1444 grammes, or, about the same as a -£8RT..

The rs11 are a good wheel you can pick them up for 80 if you shop round and they roll really well, light compared to most wheels that come with bikes but only by a couple of hundred grams

Cheers guys!! Well initial view after a quick 40miler, is as I stick to the higher gears, is when I push she goes a whole lot better than my old Jamis, might put a double Ultrega chainset on at a later stage, already had the cassette changed from an 11-32 to a 11-28. The RS11 wheels are unsurprisingly not much different to my RS21's, so going to leave them over the winter, until I can save for some carbon wheels for the summer.

The 5800 105 gears are an obvious step up to the claris gears i'm use to, I did find the left-hand shifter has some push to change (does change perfect though), whilst the right-hand shifter is smooth as, bit weird, but just different to the Claris shifters I'm use to.

The bike came with Schwalbe 25mm Durano, think I prefer the Michelin 23mm Pro4 service pro, but again will leave them on over the winter.

No complaints with the Synchros handlebar, stem and carbon seatpost.

I like the 5800 105 carbon pedals, don't mark up like the R540 pedals, clip-in easier and obv bit lighter.

I have played with my seat for ages and I personally find it the comfiest, I might ask Santa for a Fizik saddle :-).
