Does anyone know of a way to bulk-move a lot of emails from one Gmail account to another?

I did once try a suggested solution using Thunderbird, but it just kept crashing my PC, so any alternative suggestion(s) would be welcome!

Windows Live mail claims it can support multiple accounts in one inbox, including Gmail you could download them to that, I'm not sure about re uploading them though.

could you do it within the gmail web interface? you can set up a filter which automatically selects all the emails with a certain range of parameters, you can then have an action to forward these. I'm pretty sure there's an option to apply this to all your current mail as well as future incoming mails.

Just checked and all you have to do is set up a filter which picks up all messages sent to your address, press test and it should find thousands. click next step and there is an option to fwd them, then a radio button to apply this to the thousands of emails found already. should be fine after that.

I did that to transfer all my emails from my old account to my current account. If I remember correctly then you are given the option to delete the emails after they have been transfered and also a date from when to start transfering.

OK - you can't import Gmail emails into another Gmail account, and forward wil only work for any future emails that arrive - it won't forward existing emails in your Inbox.

So I'm no further forward, really

I might try this again, though last time I did something similar it crashed the PC and caused a fair bit of corruption on my HDD: http://www.twistermc.com/27915/move-gmail-to-gmail/

Actually I dont think you wouldn't need the windows live mail for the import just the address and password of the old account just go up to the cassette like thing at the top right select 'mail settings', then 'Accounts and Import' the 2nd item lets you 'Import mail and contacts'

Edit: thats what you tried :-(

here's two screenshots of how it works on mine:

part 1.jpg

select create filter, set the search criteria to be "sent to: your email address" which should match everything in your whole gmail archive. click "test filter" then "next"

part 2.jpg

in the next part set the action to forward to the second gmail account and tick the box to apply it to the messages found in the first step

That's strange - I did all that but nothing was moved.

In the end I went down the Thunderbird route in my last link and that did the trick.
