SD. You are right but that's bun fighting talk where I come from. But then again, seems such a shame to throw cake. So how about a friendly discussion on the merits of the English language, over a scone/scon, jam, clotted cream and a cuppa?

As a Staffordshire man (despite my current location) I am a Midlander and therefore not prone (or is that pron?) to the extremes of pronunciation found in the north or south. Ergo the only correct answer can come from a Midlander:

It's scone, to rhyme with stone. The only exception is if one is terribly posh, in which case "scon." This is why the joke, "What's the fastest cake in the world?" must have originated at a public school :laugh:
