According to Radio Four news the sites under investigation contain no Spitfires.

That's a lot of money and dreams gone to waste.

Surely the water-logged ground and metal = rust particles after 60 years?

Aluminium doesn't rust......

Also anaerobic so rusting will be inhibited for ferrous parts.

apparently there are at least 45 flying examples of the spitfire.

tbh, i'd be more excited if it was something like mosquitos or whitleys, although the former would not have fared at all well in water, due to wooden skin…

Will this turn out to have been the biggest Nigerian 419 scam ever?
There are buried Spitfires in Burma it's more a question of where. My grandad told us before he died that he helped pack and bury some of them, he was a RAF radio operator out there.
