Buses in ASLs: Are we getting there?

I have found National Express to be worse than any bus company in London.

To add a bit, when i was training to be a bus driver i was taught to infringe the ASL if it meant not running a late amber light, if not safe to stop at the 1st line. So that goes thru my head when i see buses do (albeit thats rare)

It is certainly rare - the majority of ASL infringing buses I see enter well after the switch to red.

Urgh, I hate that. Surely they meant to say "We know that not all cyclists are angels"

It's funny. "Angel" comes from an old Greek word meaning messenger, and I'm guessing that messengers are the ones the bus companies think of as being less likely than most to be behave in perfect accordance with the rules of the road as envisioned by said bus companies.

Whilst recognising the Greek derivation, I must admit that my first thought on "We know that all cyclists are not angels" related more to the current usage and was along the lines of "No, some of us are still alive and trying to share the roads with you".

Were you referring to the couple I mentioned a while back? if so, I have so much video (a fraction of which ends up on YT) that I'd put that one on the back burner due to time constraints. Dealing with bus companies has been the priority of late and even most of that footage has yet to be uploaded.

By the way, just got a phone call from the London United Shepherds Bush depot manager re a complaint I made last week about a particularly rude ASL infringing bus driver. Was able to supply the relevant video to him directly and I've been assured that the bus driver has been identified and will be dealt with.
Shall be on the lookout for a head-on-a-spike somewhere in the vicinity..........

Certainly true. Last time I was assaulted by a cabbie, I went to ring 999, and he said 'Go on - ring the Police. They won't do nuffink.' Allowing for the double negative, he was, of course, correct. The PCO won't accept a complaint unless you were a passenger. The Police don't charge Cabbies who either keep up the payments in the brown envelopes or are Masons. </supposition>
