I read the thread title ambiguously... whatever, I don't buy stuff from the UK anymore due to the uncertainties/horror stories of import duties and/or courier fees. Although apparently Amazon purchases can take a different path and so avoid additional charges - or so I've been told, I've not looked myself. Because fortunately I can get everything I want/need here in France. Sadly, I do need to shop online though because, living rurally, there's limited choice locally.

I have tried several times to get my last few mudguard parts from europe for my Koga and because its a few cheap bits no one will do it.

Annoying, as is the needless duty. Still the Americans will find the same very soon.

We have found that sending birthday presents to members of the family in the EU is daft. You get overwhelmed with paperwork, you pay inflated fees and taxes and the recipient then has to pay again to receive the goods at their end.
Twice a year my pal and I exchange presents, for Christmas and for our birthdays.
Apart from the postage being more expensive than pre 2020, and for the need to declare on the parcel what
is in it (although I'm pretty sure I used to have to do this before too), there are no additional charges for either of us.
I'm in the UK, she is in Italy.

Use the French Amazon?

Probably. I assumed that's what was meant anyway.
Sorry, I meant: can't you use the French Amazon instead of the UK one?
There would be no extra charges.
You are in France, no, or am I mixed up with another member lol?
Anyhow, I just remembered that during the on and off lockdowns - so after us leaving the EU - I used the UK Amazon for presents to Italy.
I had to pay a bit more postage, but the recipient didn't have to pay anything at their end.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I knew when I typed out my post that there was room for ambiguity.

What I meant was that someone here in France told me that they avoided import duties etc when they bought stuff from the UK off Amazon. I assumed they probably meant they used Amazon France, but I didn't ask. Stuff is sometimes more expensive here so it's swings and roundabouts.

There's quite a few expat folk here that get orders from Tesco etc, and delivered by man-and-van type businesses. I think it's all a bit strange tbh and have limited interest in such conversations. I guess some people really can't live without Jaffa cakes etc. Gimme a Paris-Brest any day, available at just about every boulangerie.

I decided to ask Velosolo, the reply was:
"These were uniquely made for us and we do not know of anyone else making similar in the UK but perhaps someone in the EU or USA?"
Makes quite sure bolt-on cogs not available in UK anymore.
As of yet still didn't find this for bolting on cog elsewhere, with the exception of the single earlier given inferior model.
So where will the Velosolo customers go after Velosolo?
It looks like a gap in the market, a demand, but no supply, fixed gear bikes with disc hubs used for drivetrain cog, but the cogs not sold anymore.
It might be a gap too small to fill.
The amount fixed gear riders using a brake disc hub for drivetrain purpose might be too small to make production run quantities economically feasable.
