Buying good wood

My local options for buying wood are pretty much limited to B&Q and Wickes... which is overpriced, often warped, full of knots and mostly softwood. I'd like to get my hands on some good wood. Is there an online supplier that anyone can recommend?

I want decent prices, unwarped planks and A grade ply that's actually A grade (not B or C grade that some Ebay shops allegedly sell as A grade).

Cheers

Yeah, go to a proper timber merchant rather than a DIY chain, the only thing I'd suggest you do is make sure they've got PEFC or FSC certification - although the big chains do have this their stuff is generally of rubbish quality and eyewateringly overpriced. And unless you're getting a deal on offcuts hardwood is expensive.

I was thinking more along the lines of proper hardwood rather than veneered chip board and soft woods.

Thanks @Phaeton ...checking my local suppliers hadn't crossed my mind.
How much do you want ? I buy my softwood unsorted but it comes in 225mm x 50mm and i have to prepare it myself . Hardwood ( oak ) i get from scawton saw mill . I buy a cubic meter at a time to make it cost effective .
Edit . Just remembered scawton have an ebay shop selling smaller amounts . http://stores.ebay.co.uk/scawtonkitchens/

You'll probably think it's bonkers, but have you considered using softwood or hardwood kitchen worktops as your raw material? The quality of the timber from Worktop Express is absolutely stunning, and it's fantastic value. I bought a 720 x 3000 x 40 mm laminated prime beech worktop for £135 including delivery in August. They'll send you a sample for a fiver.

The worktops are made from laminated finger-jointed staves of timber, but I actually quite like the effect.

Just a suggestion.
