What’s your strategy for getting gig tickets? I tried to get Muse tickets from the official www.gigsandtours website, but all UK venues sold out within about 20mins. One venue had sold out within 5mins! I got an order page up, but by the time I clicked “order” it had sold out... I notice that there are a number of sites now offering tickets for the Muse dates for £80-90 each (face value was £41).

I don't go to many gigs these days, but did go to see the Specials on their recent tour. Tickets sold v quickly, but I'm on facebook, joined the Specials fan thingy on there, and was given the opportunity to buy ticket a day before they 'officially' went on sale. :girl:

I tend not to go for the bigger names. A mate of mine tried to get Artic Monkeys tickets, the sold out within seconds (43 I think it was), but I'm off to an Anti-Flag gig and there easy to get tickets for.

Or if you go for the bigger names you could always go for the festivals and see loads :girl:

Muse=VEry good though

I think it's just a bit of luck really, i got Green Day tickets easy enough and they sold out very quickly.
I think the only people with a system are the scumbag touts and ebayers, and they're not going to tell.

i went to see oasis last night with a mate who rang up the night before offering me a free ticket.

come to think of it, the last gig i went to (the courteeners) was like that, although i paid for my own ticket that time…

I only go and see artists who aren't very popular.

Same. Easy to get tickets, usually cheaper and tends to be a much better sound and gig then the big bands.

I know a few people who went to see Robbie Williams when he did the knebworth thing a bit back.

They had a terrible time. All of them.

Too busy, crap sound, miles from the stage etc etc etc

I'm sure someone had a good time though.

Yeah William's with the money he was raking in

Got a lot of unsigned acts on the mp3 player, they tend to be better then the chart bands and sing about other stuff that's more relevant (is that the word I'm thinking of?).

Despite having four people using computer terminals concurrently in an attempt top get just two tickets via www.seetickets.co.uk we were frustrated to repeatedly get the message - web site busy refresh in 30 seconds only to see the venues sell out one by one until we had one breakthrough and then to be informed that the sale couldn't be processed.....

All tickets sold in 25 minutes.

It does mean however that the money saved will pay for two or three much smaller gigs at York and Pocklington

Lee Mack. He gets a good laugh out of parodying Williams' Knebworth gig and it's well worth seeing.

I believe anyone who buys tickets over the odds is doing the rest of us an injustice by giving the filthy touts a customer base. Fans of my football club will beat up anyone trying to tout outside the ground and anyone trying to sell tickets over the odds anywhere don't get the chance to do it a second time.

As for gigs, I wouldn't go and see a band in a venue that was more than a 2,000 seater and preferably less than that. There are notable exceptions and I did go and see Stevie Wonder at the MEN recently and nothing would stop me seeing Aretha Franklin should she ever tour the UK again no matter where she played (though I wouldn't pay over the odds).
