A bit like...errm... all of your bike you mean...new tyres.. what do you do with them? Brake pads? etc etc etc etc, where do you draw the line. Any way...convenience is the factor.

I'm drawing the line at CO2 cartridges to pump up my tyres.

CO2 is heavier than air, anyway, so you've now got more mass to spin up :smile:

Yes, as C02 Molecules are much smaller so leak through the tube.

Nothing to do with the size, CO2 molecules are bigger, of course. I'd guess it has something to do with the polarity of the CO2 cf N2 or O2 making able to more easily pass through the rubber tube. What do I know, though?

Nah. Common sense is to get the thing reinflated as quickly as possible, 'cos it's pi$$in9 with rain, cold and windy. At home common sense is electric (and it's solar) cos it's quicker and easier.
