Easier than it is to spell derall... derialll, front mech.

(derailleur, there, I can do it!)

A tip. Don't get your finger caught between the mech arm and the seat tube, trying to pull the mech to and fro. For a nasty moment or so, unable to reach my phone, I though I might die there from starvation.

But I managed to shift the mech eventually - those springs are strong!

Yep - adjust mech to be in the most relaxed setting (ie smallest ring). Undo cable clamp at mech and pull old cable out from levers. Feed new cable in from levers through all the outers and cable guides and pull taught at mech. Clamp cable at mech. Then check operation by lifting back wheel, pedalling and changing chainrings. If cable wasn't pulled taught enough originally there may be problems. Either pull cable more taught (with mech on smallest ring or use those barrel adjusters to get it all working again. Oh - and smear new cable with some grease before fitting (and clear out old sheath/guides) so all slides smoothly.

Easy peasy really.
