In Tokyo prefecture on street parking is banned entirely, except for marked parking bays. You cant even get the permit required to purchase a car until you prove that you have have off road parking at home. We should emulate that wise policy in the UK.

@ColinJ we had these for a while here in Glasgow.
They are aimed at people living in flats, easier to store the bike at ground level.
Cost £75 a year afair.
I have seen (in Glasgow city centre) some have a sticker with a QR code, one can park one's bike by the hour via an app.
I think it's 50p an hour.

Yes, I noticed that. I don't think it was necessary to do that there since the hangar takes up less space than some of the large cars parked nearby.
My assumption would be the curb might impede opening/closing of the bay unless it was elevated.
