Calling PetChat users re: poorly cat :(

I know a lot of CC'ers also use PetChat, but I also know that PetChat traffic is a lot less than on here, so I'm hoping to catch some PC'ers who haven't been on for a while.

Sorry i can't give any advice but hope you find the cause...have had many old cats over the years and know what you mean about the constant eating.

Thing that came to mind is the spattering, i guess it would spatter from a bleeding mouth when shaking it's head, so maybe tooth has come free or something sharp has cut the gum. All i can think of, sorry

Good shout but I don't think so although his teeth are pretty shot TBH. We did have them cleaned a few years ago but I think the stress of that now would finish him off.

He's not a cat that will let you maul about with him. He's even got a message on his notes at the vets not to attempt to administer anything orally!

Our cat had blood coming from her mouth and nose a few months ago,it was an impacted tooth.

have you been to the vets yet? I do not wish to worry you, although i know this will, but this happened to my friends cat and it was some kind of brain bleed. She too said the blood was all over the kitchen. It might not be but don't presume, just get to the vets.

Only way you are going to find out is taking the cat to the vet

Our 20yr old had similar issues, it was her kidneys and the blood was coming from that end.
Just changed her diet to 'senior', low protein food and she was fine.

Does the blood look like pure blood or is it a reddish coloured discharge?
I noticed spots of what looked like watery blood on my cats bed. Turned out to be a urine infection. It was sorted with antibiotics which were administered with great difficulty.

Back from the vets and the initial assessment is he's got severe dental disease However, further tests will be needed to determine his ravenous appetite and continuing weight loss.

They've given him a steroid injection and a 48 hour antibiotic to help ease his dental issues, and also an estimate of the further tests they'll have to do.

We'll see how he goes and discuss things further with the vet on Tuesday.

It's really fresh blood and very very red in colour.
