calories burned

so i done my first 20 miles just now, and garmin says nearly 1200 cals burned!
i also had strava running and that says 774 cals burned! thats like nearly 500cal difference!

which would be more accurate?
i weigh about 180lbs

It may calculate how many calories it thinks you have burned but it doesn't know how big the slice of cake was that you ate at the cafe stop.

Maybe Strava knows you were not doing your max speed on a flat road, where as the Garmin thinks you were on maximum physical output. I still go by my first reply though.

I read for mid effort cycling a realistic figure is 35-40 calories per mile.
