Calories - Wine Vs Doughnuts

Apparently a large glass of wine has the same calorific content as a doughnut. In its article on the subject the BBC illustrates this with the following photo. I think rockymountain was the model.

It's about an informed choice; I stopped drinking alcohol to help lose weight in 2011 and have stayed off it.

Most people I've spoken to don't think alcohol contains calories!

Okay i am going to match my jam doughnut with a nice vin santo but (and i'm really putting my head above the parapet on this one) i reckon a normal doughnut (without any filling) would go nicely with a sweet german Riesling.

True. I've often noticed that after a few pints of health beverage that I feel so well I don't feel I need to ride my bicycle ....

These studies are always flawed. Drink 8 pints, eat a kebab, chuck the whole lot up in the pub car-park.
When you get home have four glasses of water.

An excellent low-calorie evening out. And healthy too with all that water.

Indeed, when i used to drink i drank neat vodka or rum just because of that fact

and glass of red wine = approx 200 calories
donut = 250
Not much in it although i have been known to eat a 5 pack ..............
