I was down in Cambridge today for the first time and wow what a lot of bikes! There was a lot of pavement and other silly cyclists (trying to squeeze up the side of buses) but they were in the minority it was just that there was that much of everybody; it was probably less than 1% of thousands. Although there was tons of bike parking, it wasn't enough and you regularly passed abandoned bikes with wheels locked to the frame only because there was no space. I seen a few heavy hybrids with tri bars and other cycling contraptions, and although some looked like they might fall apart but they were still moving, then came the bloke cycling with a massive Tuba. Yet for all these cyclists I don't think I saw any lycra, helmets and hivis were in the minority (maybe 1 in 10) presenting the image that I like, cycling is a mainstream activity
