I've discussed this lane on another site and the general consensus was its rubbish and badly designed, alledgedly either LCAG (Leeds Cycle Action Group) or REAP (Roundhay Envrironmental Action Project) supported/campaigned for its use but neither group commented in the paper or the thread.

All I know is another user on that forum kindly found me these minutes from the Leeds Cycling Consultation Forum meeting in Oct, which mentions:

"Roundhay Road Bus Lane.
Details of these proposals were presented. People who used the route were unhappy that a wide
road with plenty of room to pass cyclists was being sub-divided into smaller lanes with more
likelihood of conflict."

This was discussion of proposed changes in layout on a different bit of Roundhay Road - further in towards town centre

Where you there? I'm been meaning to get involved in more Leeds orientated cycling stuff, is that something you can help with?

There's the Leeds Cycling Action Group http://leedscyclists.org.uk/ which is based at Leeds Uni/Leeds Met (my work) I think. They're active in campaigning. I've not got involved since my time's limited atm.

With the greatest of respect to any LCAG members on the forum, I looked at their site and some of their YouTube vids and decided not to get involved with that particular group.

----- that is the info? I've only been to one - but they're open to interested members of the public. One way of finding out what's being planned - and everything that's being refused.

I'm glad you are in one piece Oldredeyes. Hope you don't suffer any 'day after' effects too.

I don't live far from there and on the odd occasion I cycle past there I think I have only used the cycle lane once. Mainly because the first time I used it I was nearly knocked off by someone stepping out from behind the bus shelter. There was no bus there, in fact it was very early morning and no one seemed to be about at all. I'm not sure why I used the cyclepath at all tbh.
