Do rental cars have gps trackers? I dont see how anyone using 2020's tech can avoid leaving a digital footprint.
Pay with cash, travel by bike and never carry a mobile phone. Plus always cover your face.

Here is a recent murder case where the owner of a car had no idea that the vehicle was sending data back to a central database on every journey it ever did to within 5 meters.

“Some modern, expensive cars are installed with electronic systems which can track and store information about its movements. This so-called telematics system can be used as a tracking device if the car is stolen. It can also tell when a car's engine is started or stopped and even when a window, door or boot is opened and closed.”

CCTV, and the willingness to go through all the footage, got a conviction.

Willingness isnt really the right word. It’s always a number game with risk and reward.
They reviewed 830 hours of CCTV from 80 different cameras.
That needs lots and lots of manpower. It can only be done for the most serious of cases. They won’t be doing that to find the guy who nicked a bike outside the train station.

It does give an indication of just how hard it is to avoid being caught on camera.

It's secret, we'd have to kill you if you ever find out.
