Hello,

I was going to get a GoPro HD Hero3 Black Edition next month whilst in the states as I hear they're much cheaper over there. However, my boss has just put me onto the AEE Magicam SD21.

It's litteraly half the price of the GoPro and offers a almost identical performance, it seems.

Here's a fair test of the two:

I wanted to know if anyone had any experience with either of the cameras and their thoughts on either or both...

I'm tempted to say neither of them, keep your money in your pocket and enjoy riding your bike. However as a GoPro owner ( a nice gift that I rarely use) I'd say get the cheaper one, if it does that same job.

The video does not compare the GoPro 3 Black with the AEE Magicam SD21, so it is not a valid comparison.
The GoPro Hero 2 and the GoPro 3 Silver are the same camera but in a different case, so pointless comparing with both.
Makes me wonder if video maker is biased for some reason.
The GoPro 3 Black, is a significant upgrade to the Hero 2/3 Silver.

You may want to consider the Sony AS100, as it has superior low light capabilities, quite important as the nights draw in.

I commute every day and do about 4-6 miles of heavy filtering depending on traffic per way. Last night I had a very close call - I think I want one purely for insurance purposes, should anything bad happen. I may get the cheaper one though, as you say.

Thanks for the comprehensive feedback - the price makes sense then!... I'll check out the Sony over the weekend. Thanks again.
