Campagnolo Freewheel hub issue

Hi

I have a 2012 Pinarello FP2, I have recently encountered an issue where the freewheel hub, which used to be very loud and clicky, has gone completely silent.

When I spin the wheel by hand now it sounds like there is shattered glass inside.

The bike still works, maybe a little less smoothly, but i was wondering if anyone has experienced this / has an easy / cheap fix?

Sounds like you need to investigate by taking the freehub off. The tiny springs or pawls could be broken or sticking.

Taking apart, cleaning and a drop of oil won't cost anything - just time.

In the meantime, have some strong zip ties in your bag, then you can do a temporary fix to get you home should it fail completely. The zip ties can be wrapped round the hub, spokes and largest sprocket and turn it into a fixed gear. But you have to remember to keep pedalling!
