I'd go with Shimano, simply because it almost rhymes with "hymn I know", and you could therefore fit it into the lyrics of a really cool song, as in "ooh baby, buy me some Shimano, and I'll sing you a hymn I know". If you were trying to do the same with campag, you'd have to go "ooh baby, buy me some campagnolo, and I'll give you my last Rolo", which is really plumbing the depths of lyricism. :hello:

Shimano has far better spares availability and far better legacy support for older systems - you can still buy 7-speed cassettes! Other than that, just pick the one you like the look of, as functionally, there's not much between the.

My current main bike uses Hurret gearing! ^_^ Although I have just bought an Alivio rear derailleur to replace the old Hurret one.

Shimano is my preference, mainly because I have all Shimano compatible tools! Although I have to say, having tried a friends mountain bike with SRAM componentry on, I do prefer SRAM thumb shifters over Shimano's.

Never tried Campag.
