I ride both types and the only negative I would say on a flat bar is that you can't get down and aero when riding into a headwind (something of which I seem to encounter most days lately)

I just sold my drop bar road bike this week. I wont be getting another.
I dont really hate drops, but i much prefer flat bars..... and bar ends make them even better.

Like Roger there are long headwind slogs where I wish I'd chosen another drop bar bike from the garage. But generally I far prefer flat bars with good bar ends. I keep trying, the Dawes Clubman I bought on here is the latest, a lovely bikebut now relegated to the back of the garage. A Merida cyclo cross is on the way and I think that'll be my last drop bar try.
